Iva Soccer Club set the scene at FFS prize giving for Savaii League

They made a grand entrance, singing their way into the FFS grounds from the dirt road and got the party started with a young boy from Iva entertaining the crowd before the formalities commenced.
Clear blue skies set the mood for a joyous occasion as young children from each club battled it out on the football field, showing off their dance moves during intermissions. Six clubs were present to receive their prizes including Saipipi, Sapapalii, Siufaga, Vailoa, Lalomalava and Iva. Sapapalii took out the Under 12 competition and Senior Womens Division while Iva ruled “a man’s world”, winning first place in the Under 17 Boys competition and Senior Mens Division. Saipipi Soccer Club showed promise, coming second in the Under 12 competition and winning the title of Under 15 Girls Champion.
Sister act Saisii and Melanie Itake showed that football runs through their veins, both winning Most Valuable Player awards. Ricky Magele Osa from Iva Soccer Club stood out in his division, claiming the title of MVP in the Under 17 Boys competition.
Knowing the game inside out is a must when officiating and Margaret Leasi from Saipipi SC is on that road, taking home the “Most Promising Referee” trophy.
FFS CEO Sarai Bareman was pleased with the event, “We built these facilities with the main goal of developing and growing the sport of football in Savaii. This past season we have made some excellent progress and now with another 9 villages involved in our new development programs next season will be even bigger. Football in Savaii is here to stay.”
The end of season prize giving was followed by trials where the FFS Technical Development team scouted for stand out players to join the Savaii Centre of Excellence.
