Football Federation Samoa end of season prize giving a success despite terrible conditions

Despite last minute changes to the set up and having to hire a generator, the event turned out to be a great success with clubs and attendees in jolly spirits, ready to celebrate their achievements.
Hosted by Technical Development Officer Tuileifiifi Martin Tamasese, the ceremony kicked off with an opening prayer by special guest Reverend Muao Su’a followed by the Acting President Reverend Laupama Solomona’s address.
Over 70 trophies and more than $35,000 tala was awarded to the winners and stand out players of the 7 tournaments held over the 2013/14 season ranging from National League to Futsal. Vailima Kiwi’s winning streak did not seem to falter, coming first in the Men and Women’s National League and Cup tournament. Vaimoso SC was not far behind, winning the titles for the Under 12 Boys National League, Under 17 Boys Cup and Women’s Futsal.
Consolation prizes were also presented to teams who did not win, as a thank you for their participation and support of FFS activities. FFS CEO Sarai Bareman states “The 2013/2014 season has been a great success. We added two new tournaments to the annual calendar this year and I am happy to say that we now have 10 months of ongoing competition for our member clubs”.
Individual awards of special note went to Benson Hunt of Vaitoloa Soccer Club winning the Golden Boot and MVP award for the Men’s First Division. Silao Malo from Vaimoso SC topped the Men’s Premier League and happily took home the MVP award while Letti Tamasese from Vailima Kiwi FC had top honours in the Women’s League.
The 2014/15 season will commence in September this year.
