NATIONAL LEAGUE A SUCCESS

The 2021 Upolu League Competition season officially closed this evening at the FFS National Headquarters in Tuana’imato.

Prize winners from all divisions starting at Under 8 girls and boys all the way up to Premier League men were presented trophies, certificates and prize money by members of the FFS Executive committee.

Club teams and their supporters were very vocal in cheering on the prize winners and a cheerful party atmosphere swept over the crowds as music was played and teams celebrated.

The programme kicked off with an opening prayer from Rev Muao Fagasua, followed by the key note address from FFS President Papalii Samuel Petaia. The President thanked the clubs and their presidents for the support and participation in the 2021 Upolu Youth and Senior League Competition.

In his remarks he acknowledged the club presidents, players, community leaders, church ministers and everyone involved in this years Upolu Competition.

“I believe this is a long season and we achieved some milestone. In the history of Samoan football, I believe this is the first time FFS has achieved the FIFA 6.3 article by completing 132 games in the Premier Men’s Division, 70 games in the youth divisions and is it the persistence by the clubs and the players.”

He also added that is wasn’t an easy operation for the teams but through their commitment to the Federation, everything turned out into a success.
“On behalf of the Executive Committee and all our staff as FFS we thank you for your commitment that we have achieved so much in the last three years and I believe next year will be a better year.

The FFS Upolu League Competition kicked off in March with the Youth divisions and reintroduction of the girl’s categories from under 8 girls to under 19. FFS Competition also introduced two senior divisions which includes Women’s A and Men’s B Divisions.

FFS Competition is one of FFS annual events for Upolu and Savaii Football Developments.
