The Samoa Senior Women’s team encountered a tough beginning in the FIFA World Cup 2027 Round 2, facing defeats in their initial two games.

In their opening game against New Zealand, it became evident early on that the opposition was formidable. Within just 48 seconds, New Zealand struck first, setting the pace for a dominant performance.

By halftime, the score stood at 5-0 in favour of New Zealand. Despite the overwhelming odds, our team showed determination and resilience, fighting tirelessly to turn the tide.

However, the match ended with a disappointing scoreline of 8-0, leaving Samoa still searching for its first goal.

In their second match of the day, Samoa faced a fiercely competitive American Samoa. The game proved to be a gritty contest, with the sole goal scored by American Samoa coming in the first half.

Samoa’s defenders displayed immense grit and tenacity, working hard to maintain the scoreline and prevent further damage. With no additional goals scored, the match concluded with a narrow defeat of 1-0.

Looking ahead, the team is focused on their upcoming match against the host country, Solomon Islands, scheduled for Thursday at 7 PM. This game presents another opportunity for the Samoan players to showcase their skills and determination on the world stage.
