We are in the festive season and we all know what it means. Fun games, making new friends, free food, prizes & giveaways and enjoying a day out from home was one of the highlights of the Football Federation Samoa Soccer Sisters festival that was held at the FFS Grounds in Iva Savaii on Saturday 28th November 2020.
Concluding this year’s activities, FFS Savaii combined two development programs as a token of appreciation to thank the parents, registered clubs and girls who participated in Fun Football and Development Centers Programme . This is the first time FFS Savaii has combined two programs into one day girls only festival.
Womens Football Chairperson Emily Young talked about the use of football as a way to bring girls together in a safe environment to celebrate the festive season “These have been working hard all year in the various programs and we wanted to give them a fun, safe activity to finish the year off and wish them a happy Christmas. We have provided buses for transportation, tshirts and healthy food and snacks as well as giveaways, prizes and of course, football. It’s a great way to top off a great year”.
Thirteen communities from the Itu o Tane and Fa’asaleleaga Districts participated with a total number of 612 participants.
The Development Centres are an FFS Technical Department program which provides high level coaching for talented youth who are identified in the National Youth League. It runs twice a week for 10 months a year and is for Boys and Girls at Under 12 and Under 15 age level.
As part of the festival, presentation of prizes were distrusted to the best players of the day.
All participants and parents present were gifted with a healthy snack and Soccer Sister t.shirt to wish them well for the Christmas season.
FFS activities will resume in late January.
