“I’m bringing Zova back!”

Led by Fun Football coaches Malo Vaga, Andrew Setefano and Lionel Taylor, the children warmed up to songs from the 2014 FIFA World Cup, performing basic football movements to the beat of the music. Zova, a fun form of exercise combining music, rhythm and physical activity, was introduced in Samoa last year and originates from Australia. It quickly became a favourite amongst the young Fun Footballers however it fell off the radar once the hype wore off.
“Music is a great way to get children to move and I know Samoan kids love to dance so kicking off our Fun Football festival with Zova was a must”, stated Tamasese.
Another highlight at the monthly event was the prize giveaway with Football Federation Samoa giving out Nike and Adidas football attire to lucky dip winners. The children of Faleasiu walked away with a huge amount of prizes, making up a large portion of the participants at the festival. The coaches weren’t forgotten either, scoring Bluesky t-shirts and memory cards for their dedication to the Fun Football program.
Tamasese was pleased with the turnout and encourages parents and children to keep on coming. “I’d like to thank all of the parents who bring their kids to Fun Football. I hope you continue to support this free local program for children. I’d also like to acknowledge the OFC Just Play grassroots programme for providing transportation and refreshments for this festival”, said Tamasese.
