FFS focuses on coaching education

OFC Technical Advisor Simon Toselli lent a helping hand and kicked things off with a half day workshop on Monday 15th September, 2014 for the National Team coaches. Toselli worked through the different steps involved to prepare a team for an international tournament which included identifying standout players, squad preparation, team performance and defining the game model with a major emphasis on planning and weekly evaluation. The workshop was an extension of the practical training sessions held over the past few weeks, where Simon and the Technical Department have been working together to evaluate and develop the national teams.
A two day workshop for senior coaches from local clubs commenced on Wednesday 17th September, led by the FFS Technical Department consisting of Martin Tamasese, Tala Salamasina and Lynette Laumea-Faaiuaso, in collaboration with Toselli. This is a local initiative, designed to assist coaches with delivering valuable training sessions before the football season commences in October. “This is the right time to bring coaches at a senior level together. The game is constantly evolving and we have to upgrade and follow the latest trends so it is our role to provide them with the tools to deliver effective training sessions”, states Toselli.
With a continued focus on coaching education, FFS will deliver the same workshop next month to second division coaches. A full list of the National Team coaches and upcoming OFC tournaments are below.
