From Youth League to Rep Champs

The Representative Youth League (or All Star League) is an initiative implemented by the Technical Team of Football Federation Samoa. Eighty (80) players, boys and girls were selected from various clubs during the National Youth League and were divided into Four (4) teams for the Representative League.
Two divisions were played – Under 12 and Under 15.
The main purpose of this new programme is to target players that have the potential in Football to give them an opportunity to compete at a higher level and as the first step in the pathway for elite or talented players.
The next step for a chosen few will be the FFS Centre for Development which is a special training centre for selected players to participate in specialised trainings twice a week at the FFS Academy.
The Apolima Vikings boy’s team has been ranked No. 1 for this year’s league, after a 3-2 win against Savaii Stars. Faanunu Ropeti, coach of Apolima Vikings and former National Team player stated that she was happy for her team’s performance. This is my first time coaching a rep team and I am pleased with the result. She also acknowledges the help of the FFS Technical team and thanks them for the opportunity that she has been given to be part of the programme.
In the girls division the Manono Magic came out on top after a hard fought win against rivals Savaii Stars.
Parents and supporters alike were very vocal and enthusiastic as they cheered their girls on in the final game of the season.
Fifteen young ladies will be selected fro mthe league to participate in the Centre for Development.
The All Star League under 15 finals will be on Saturday the 22nd of this month followed by club Prize giving for all divisions.
