Goals aplenty in National League

Team Cruz Azul opened the weekend’s play with a 10–1 demolition of Adidas SC. Cruz attacker Trevor Pesa opened the goal scoring after 13 minutes and teammate Amilale Saloma of Sinamoga was soon in on the action as he scored his first of four goals for the day.
On field two, Vaivase-Tai lost to team Kiwi 3–2 in a highly competitive match. Kiwi shot out to an excellent start and 2-0 nil at halftime. Vaivase-Tai then fought back early in the second half with a goal by Semi Naioti only to have Kiwi to re-establish their two goal lead with their third goal. Vaisvase-Tai did again strike back with a second goal, but it proved too little, too late, as they ran out of time to draw the game.
Rival clubs Moataa and Strickland Brothers Lepea usually produce an exciting encounter when they square off and this game was no exception.
The spectators were treated to a fast paced and physical contest and Sopo Leo’o showed Lepea’s wasteful strikers how to take a win when he finished off a brilliant cross from Junior Selefuti to clinch Moataa’s 2-1 victory.
Goldstar Sogi turned around their poor recent form beating Togafuafua 4–1 as attacker Domeniko Tokuma went on a goal-scoring spree.
Elsewhere Apia Youth’s striker Mali Mali was not to be outdone. He scored five of his teams’ 9–1 tally against Central United FC. The excellent combination of youngsters Mali, Silao Malo and Renny Utufua has definitely put Apia back in the Championship frame as a threat in the remaining weeks of competition.
