Lober/MNRE 2011 Champions!!!

They won the game after going to a penalty shoot out against Vailele Master Class.
It was the first time that both teams had qualified for the final. However, if Lober/MNRE had any feeling of nervousness going into the game they did not show it taking and early lead after only in few minutes. Being down by one, Vailele Master Class than went on to the attack creating several goal-scoring opportunities. However Lober/MNRE held them off until half time.
In the second half Vailele Master Class than scored the equalizing goal after some nice passing, that made the score 1-1. Both teams than tried to play attacking football in search of the winning goal, which just would not come. As a result a penalty shoot out was needed to decide the outcome. It was then that Lober/MNRE won the encounter 5-4.
This was the third year that Lober/MNRE had taken part in the Business House Football competition. It was also the first time that the team had managed to qualify not just for the Cup Final but also for the Cup Championships.
The match for third and fourth place saw a repeat of last years final with last years champions NUS Staff Soccer Team taking on National Bank of Samoa. Also like last years final, a penalty shoot out was required to determine the winner after the match had finished 1-1. However this time it was National Bank who came out on top winning 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
In the other matches of the day saw Kooline/Alnima Motors defeat Signs Studios/Juliana Rentals 2-0 to claim the Plate Trophy. The Bowl was won by Legislative after a 2-1 against Westpac Bank. Samoa Red Cross won the Shield final with a 3-1 win over the Ministry of Police. Development Bank of Samoa won the Tanoa Competition.
After the final a prize giving was held for all the participating teams. FFS Acting CEO Sarai Bareman was please with the tournament; “This year’s tournament has been a great success. The feedback from the participants has been very positive and I want to thank all those involved for their support. I am sure that all the businesses involved have benefited in some way by taking part in this tournament.
