FIFA Grassroots Course

Football Federation Samoa (FFS) is hosting a Grassroots Coaching Course, this week. The course is conducted by FIFA Instructor Paul Toohey with an aim to develop grassroots football in Samoa by learning how to effectively coach different age groups to develop and continue to build their love for soccer.
This week’s course will be for the coaching of children in the 6 to 12 years age group.
FFS Technical Development Officer Tuileifiifi Martin Tamasese officially opened the course today and he encouraged the coaches to utilize the skills from this course to share with the avid young soccer generation of Samoa.
The course is not new to Samoa, being one of many coaching courses provided by FIFA to achieve its mission of “building a better future in football” this would be achieved by the training of coaches conducted by FIFA all around the world through its Member Associations to empower teams and players.
Mr. Toohey stated that the important thing is to have an environment where the children can learn and love the sport through trainings and soccer programs where they can acquire their passion for football.
The FIFA Grassroots Coaching Course is for five days and ends on Friday 24 June 2016 with a Soccer festival at the FFS fields in Tuanaimato.
The 20 participants in the course are from different registered football clubs in Upolu.
