National League kicks off

Wednesday evening 6th November 2013 marked the start of the Premier League divisions.
This category includes Men’s Premier League, Women’s Premier League; Men’s First Division; Under 17 and Under 15 boys. The Girls Youth League and Under 12 boys will start later in the season.
Football Federation Samoa National League 2013/2014 season kicked off in early October and is scheduled to run through until February 2014. A total of 38 teams are competing in 5 categories. This category includes Men’s Premier League, Women’s Premier League; Men’s First Division; Under 17 and Under 15 boys.
The Girls Youth League and Under 12 boys will start later in the season.
FFS Technical Development Officer Papalii Tala stated the main objective of this tournament is to maintain players and their interest in football, and way of expressing themselves in a competitive environment.
Wednesday evening marked the start of the Premier League divisions. First match saw teams from Apia Youth and One Way Wind from Moamoa playing offensively to start off the season. Apia Youth won with 3-1 points.
2012-2013 finalists Lupe ole Soaga fought against Fa’atoia United in the first match for the Women’s Premier League with an impressive of 4-2 win, while in the last game Togafu’afu’a Saints proved to be too strong to Bridge Boys with a close win of 3-2.
The first round of Competition for the Men’s Premier League and women’s premier league will continue today with games kicking off at 12pm. Next Saturday will be the start of the Under 12 Competition at 8.30am.
All games are being played at the JS Blatter Football Complex at Tuanaimato.
National League is an annual activity of the Football Federation Samoa. The current league is specifically for the registered clubs in Upolu. Plans are underway for a Savaii National League Tournament for all the clubs in Savaii early 2014.
