The popular Business House tournament for 2021 has kick start a busy 2021 for Football Federation Samoa (“FFS”) Competition. This year’s Business House Tournament has drawn 30 registered teams from local Businesses and Government corporations/ministries divided into four (4) pools.
Reintroduced in 2020 as a result of popular demand, the Tournament is scheduled to run for 10 weeks with the two (2) first draws played last week at the FFS main fields Tuanaimato. The Tournament’s popularity has grown in numbers and interest and runs every Tuesday and Thursday after working hours with players and supporters congregating at the Tuanaimato fields.
The Business house tournament aims to bring participating teams to exercise, socialize and most importantly promote healthy lifestyle choices for employees after a busy day at work. FFS also sees the Business House tournament as the curtain raiser to the National Youth League that will commence soon.
FFS Competition Manager Papalii Laautuivanu commented at the start of the tournament: “We are very excited that teams have decided to join again in this year’s tournament. We wish all the teams the best of luck. The aim of this tournament is for everyone to have fun and to enjoy themselves”.
The competition is played using a mixed format with men and women playing in the same team. Each game is played for 40 minutes (two half of 20 minutes). Teams are also given unlimited number of substitutions and players can sub in and out as much as they want.
One of the major rules for this year’s tournament is allowing one national league registered in the National league to play. This was done in order to make the tournament a truly social event between the participating companies and teams.
Whilst Samoa is under the State of Emergency for Covid (“SOE”), FFS continues to emphasize the importance for all teams to adhere to the SOE conditions as well as providing a safe environment where players and supporters can equally enjoy a friendly game of footy after work.
These are the participating teams for 2021 and we wish them all the best:
