National League Football is Back.

A total of 49 teams in 5 different competitions will be participating. The competition is being organized by the Football Federation Samoa (FFS) and is being sponsored by SamoaTel.
During the Opening Ceremony club players gathered in front of the main stadium. Reverent Taipisia Leilua gave the opening prayer and words of encouragement to all participating clubs. FFS Chairman Savae Toetu Petana than welcomed all clubs and wished them the best of luck.
Paul Smith acting events and sponsorship manger from SamoaTel gave the keynote address in which he explained; “SamoaTel is very proud to sponsor football here in Samoa. We wish that the partnership between FFS and SamoaTel, will provide good support to football players that will represent our country at international competitions. SamoaTel also sees this competition as a development for our younger generation here in Samoa.” Also during the opening ceremony Mr. Smith kicked the first ball to officially start the competition.
In the first match of the day for the Premier League Competition Goldstar Sogi drew 1-1 with Adidas FC. Defending champions Moaula United got their campaign of to a perfect start with an impressive 9-2 win against Vaivase-Tai. Bert Keli from Moaula United scored 4 goals, which also made him the top scorer for the week in the Premier League. In the last game of the day Kiwi FC proved to be too strong for Lepea SC winning 5-0. Lionel Taylor and Joseph Hoeflick both scored 2 goals each for Kiwi.
The first round of Competition for the Men’s Premier League, First Division and Second Division, will continue this Wednesday and Thursday with games kicking off at 5pm. This Friday will see the start on the Women’s Competition at 5pm. All games are being played at the JS Blatter Football Complex at Tuanaimato.
