The eight clubs are: Faatoia United, Leuavaa FC, Lotopa SC, Lupe O le Soaga, Vaitele-Uta, Vaimoso FC, Vaipuna FC and One Way Win from Moamoa.
These clubs will be able to participate in the 2010-2011 National League Season for Senior Men, Senior Women and Boys under 15. The 2010/2011 National League Season is scheduled to kick off on 11 September 2010.
President of the football club from Vaitele-Uta Reverend Fomai Lafaialii stated the reason for his village joining the FFS was for the future ” We are looking towards the future with our youth especially since we have access to the football fields with are located in our area. We also hope that through the participation of our village in the National League we will be able have players represent Samoa during international competition like the 2011 South Pacific Games in New Caledonia”.
During a recent meeting with the new clubs the federation presented them with 10 football balls, cones, and bibs to assist them with their training and preparation for the upcoming season. Reverent Lafaialii also added “ Our team has had a good preparation so far and we are very excited. We also would like to thank the federation for their support with the football gear which has helped a lot for our team’s preparation for the season”.
FFS CEO Fred Young was very excited and welcomed the new clubs to the federation “ I would like to thank these clubs for deciding to join the FFS. We are thrilled to have them participate in our competitions and we wish them all the best of luck”.
