SamoaTel Sponsors Soccer

Telecommunications giant, SamoaTel, and Samoa’s premiere authority on Soccer, the Football Federation Samoa (FFS), have signed an unprecedented one-year sponsorship agreement for the 2010/2011 National League Season. As a result of this partnership SamoaTel will receive exclusive naming rights to the competition, SamoaTel National League 2010/2011.
SamoaTel’s Business & Consumer General Manager Veletaloola Vaa Ofoia feels hopeful about Samoa’s football prospects stating that: “Our young Samoan people have a huge potential when it comes to playing soccer. This sponsorship, we hope, will provide them with the opportunity to develop into excellent players.”
FFS CEO Fred Young was thrilled with the agreement: “We are very fortunate and grateful that SamoaTel has agreed to come on board. SamoaTel’s support means a great deal to not only us, here at FFS, but to the Samoan football community at-large. When SamoaTel says ‘Family First and Samoa First’ they mean it and we believe that this partnership will build a permanent foundation in which the football and the community can flourish and stand firm upon.
The exciting SamoaTel National league kicked off in September 2010 and is scheduled to run through until May 2011. A total of 46 teams are competing in 5 categories. These categories are: (1) Men’s Premier League; (2) Lady’s Premier League; (3) Men’s First Division; (4) Men’s Second Division; and (5) Boys Under 15.
Young also added “The SamoaTel National League is also an opportunity for our coaches to identify player’s who will be selected to represent Samoa at international tournaments such as next year’s South Pacific Games. This is an exciting time for everyone involved in soccer right now.
